Wer das Java Runtime Environment benötigt und geflissentlich auf den Updater hört und brav installiert, wird sich vielleicht wundern, daraufhin die Systemmeldung zu lesen, das Update sei bereits eingespielt. Die alten Java-Versionen bleiben bei einem Update nämlich immer auf dem System. Via F-Secure-Weblog:
"To sum it up: Installing a JRE Update doesn't remove the older versions of JRE that are installed. So, any older security issues remain installed as well. You'll want to manually uninstall the old version(s) before "updating"."

Die HP Toolbox für Windows erzeugt auf Clients und Servern im Minutenrhythmus DCOM-Errors Messages, wodurch die Ereignisprotokolle natürlich schnell volllaufen.

Naturgemäß hat man von HP keine Hilfe zu erwarten. Softwareupdates sind außerdem nicht vorhanden oder unbrauchbar - so wie man das von HP-Software gewohnt ist.

Entweder man deaktiviert (deinstalliert) die HP Toolbox für Laserjets oder man ergreift folgende Maßnahme:

"To register the component properly, open a command prompt window by clicking Start then Run. Enter cmd.exe in the Run window.

Change to the System 32 folder by typing "cd\winnt\system32" for Win2K or "cd\windows\system32" for WinXP.

Run the command "hpbpro.exe -RegServer".
Then run the command "hpbpro.exe -Service".

Then type "Exit" and then restart your PC."
